Sunday 15th September 2024

FREE EVENT – no booking required, just turn up.

Meet outside the entrance to the Steyning Centre, Fletchers Croft Car Park, BN44 3XZ (opposite the church of St Andrew & St Cuthman).  11 am prompt start. – around 2 hours duration.

FREE parking in Fletchers Croft Car Park on Sundays.

A “ramble” through half a millennium of Steyning’s liquid history with plenty of stops along the way.  See where breweries, malthouses, inns and public houses were situated in the past and whether we can find any traces of them today.  The Chequer Inn, The Star and The White Horse, are fortunately still with us – here is your chance to take in some of their history too.   The whole event delightfully hosted – with great humour – by local historian Dr Janet Pennington.

Perhaps, at the end of the Walk, you can step inside one of the many great pubs in Steyning and sample more recent drink offerings plus Sunday lunch !
